HISTORY
1950s Hasse assisted county governor Hjalmar Mehr to get youngsters off the streets of Stockholm on New Year’s Eve. The “Nyårsfest i natt/New Year’s Party Tonight” project was started up in over 20 locations all over Stockholm. It proved a great success and the project ran for several years.

1957 The Kingside pleasure palace opened in Stockholm with Hasse Wallman as manager.

1961 Hasse is appointed advertising manager of Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm.

1961 Hasse joins the editorial team of Lennart Hyland’s Swedish TV show “Stora Famnen”.

1962 Restaurant Badholmen Saltsjöbaden opens and for the first time Hasse tests out his concept of singing waiters and waitresses – with great success.

1964 Hasse brings the Beatles to Sweden to perform at the Royal Tennis Hall, a popular concert venue.

1966 Hasse brings the Rolling Stones to Sweden.

1968 Restaurant Badholmen is gutted by fire.

1969 Hasse acquires the former Ängeln pharmacy in Stockholm’s Old Town and converts it into the Engelen restaurant and music pub and Kolingen nightclub.

1970s Hasse takes over Restaurant Bacchi Wapen in Stockholm’s Old Town, which he runs for the next 23 years.

1982 Opens the Mälardrottningen floating hotel and restaurant. Sweden’s Princess Christina cuts the tape at the inaugural ceremony.

In the early 1980s Hasse, together with Bosse Parnevik, takes over Stockholm’s China Theatre, which was under threat of closure. The theatre stages shows including Cats, West Side Story, Annie Get Your Gun, Grease, Hair and Fame. The musical Fame enjoyed worldwide success and is currently being staged in London.

1990 Takes over Stockholm’s Folkan Theatre

1991 Opens Wallmans Salonger at Blasieholmen in Stockholm

1992 Hasse Wallman takes over Golden Days on Kungsgatan in central Stockholm and changes the name to Golden Hits.

1996 Opens Wallmans Salonger in Malmö

1997 Hasse publishes his autobiography entitled “För nöjes skull” (For Pleasure’s Sake), written in collaboration with Olof Svedelid. The book documents Hasse’s 40 years of entertainment history from 1957 to 1997. It ranges from laughter to tears and criticism to praise for those deserving. The book is available in our shop and at some of our restaurants.

1999 On 12 December Hasse throws a big party to mark 30 years of running Engelen/Kolingen. Golden Hits becomes a travelling show. Oslo sees the first Wallmans Salonger open outside Sweden.

2000 Hasse is named "Entrepreneur of the Year" for his sense of quality and breadth of range – Entrepreneur of the Year, Stockholm 2000

2003 On 1 January, Wallmans Nöjen took over the running of Cirkusbygningen in Copenhagen.

Hasse is named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by leading Swedish publication Dagens Industri.

2004 Premiere for Wallmans Salonger in Cirkusbygningen in Copenhagen.

2007 Premiere for Wallmans Golden Hits in Helsingborg.
