It is over a hundred and twenty years since the last builders brushed the dust off their hands and congratulated each other on a fine result. The Circus Building was finished.Still standing proud the building with its impressive cupola by Axeltorv is one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful sites. The Circus Building’s very special aura is maintained both on the interior and exterior. Many adult Danes people can still remember childhood happiness when they took a trip to the fun and exciting Circus Building. The funny clowns, the flying trapeze, the horses, the elephants, the sea lions and the camels made this an unforgettable experience. Happy memories are recalled when you stand in front of the building. Magic lies around the image of this old day’s adventure in the centre of a pulsating capital city. Memories don’t disappear but are still alive and can be re-visited.
In 1984 the world famous architect and designer Verner Panton created a very special colour spectrum specifically for the building. The Circus Building is now a listed property and the colour scheme is one of many things that cannot be changed as respect is shown to its listed status.
The big round space of the cupola is no longer filled with the smell of sawdust or the neighing of horses, but is now rebuilt so all our guests have a lovely view during an evening with Wallmans International Dinner Show. The old stables where the horses and camels used to live have now been turned into modern rooms which are used for parties and conferences.
So who knows, maybe the Circus Building is still standing beautiful and old on its spot by Axeltorv after yet another hundred and twenty years; like a picture of a lost time when adventures still existed and maybe still as the frame of a nice, heart-warming and entertaining evening.
